This page provides links to more detailed images of sands from the southeastern U.S. Atlantic coast. Note that the sands grade from siliciclastic sands to the north to carbonate sands to the south. Within the carbonates, the sands change from containing mostly colorful freshly broken fragments of mollusk shells to containing mostly white bored grains of more diverse biological origins
