Figure A-3. Lacustrine tufa from Mono Lake, California, U.S.A. Mono Lake is a saline alkaline lake in which the water level has dropped to expose towers of tufa. This sample has a zoned microcrystalline fabric locally reminiscent of microcrystalline fabrics in some stalactites.
